FIRST CONGREGATIONAL WELCOMES OUR NEW PASTOR

At a Special Congregational Meeting on Sunday, May 18, 2008, The congregation affirmed the selection of W. Michael Chittum, M.Div., PhD, as our new Pastor.

Michael has recently been the Senior Minister at Covenant Congregational Church in Demorest, Georgia at Piedmont College. He was ordained in 1980 by the First Baptist Church in Alcoa, Tennessee and served Baptist churches from 1980-1997. He was affirmed in ministry in 1996 by the Mid-America Fellowship of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches. Michael served Plymouth Congregational Church in Wichita, Kansas as Senior Minister from September, 1997 - August, 2006.

Michael has been married to Vickie for soon to be 34 years. They have two adult sons.

Michael notes: "As a minister, I would note three enduring characteristics of my ministry - relationships, worship, and administrative - that have been central to my ministry for 20 years. As I have gained experience and knowledge and as I have faced different church settings, I have manifested these in slightly different ways in each ministry setting.”

Michael began his service to First Congregational Church, Salt Lake City on July the 1st, 2008. He is the 14th Pastor in the Church's 143 year history. He currenly has a BLOG that you can reach at: http://michael-anothervoice.blogspot.com/
