This year, First Congregational Church will support Camp Fellowship as one of the church’s Outreach projects. The camp staff endeavor to foster understanding and compassion among all who attend; and strive to make camp a safe place where all campers and staff feel they are accepted “just as they are.” The camp is located in Chalk Creek Canyon, several miles beyond Coalville. For one week each summer, campers, high-school counselors, and adult staff gather for what is often the best week of the summer. It’s a secluded place with rolling hills, pines, sagebrush, willows, and cottonwood trees. There are hummingbirds, raccoons, and sometimes you see moose. There’s time to hear the wind in the trees, spend sunny days under the pines, and glory beneath a shimmering blanket of stars at night. And, you can see the Milky Way! But even with all that, the people are what make camp so compelling. There are morning watches, evening vespers, singing, crafts, activities, dancing, campfires, skits, hiking, water balloon volleyball, and even Camper Klaus! If you’d like to spend a week in the presence of God’s love, where acceptance, encouragement, and compliments are the expectation, then this is where you want to be. Camp Fellowship is held for one week in late July or early August. There is a fee to attend, but there are a number of scholarships available. Attendance is limited to youth who will be entering the fourth to ninth grade. The theme for Camp Fellowship 2023 was “Trust-Love-Know Yourself.” This year’s camp was a huge success! Check out the camp’s website at campfellowship.com for details about the dates for next year's camp. As Lilly said, "Let's do this again next year!"
The campers and staff appreciate your donations of money, food, and/or your time. As details about Camp 2024 become available, we will post information about who to call if you'd like to help.
Practice your happy camper walk! Camp will be here before you know it!
