Camp Fellowship and Lay Leadership Retreat

Why did I come to First Congregational?

I was looking for a bunch of folks who loved God and really wanted to make a difference, because that's what I want to do too! What I found at First Congregational is a group of people who are really trying to live faithful lives, really trying to love well, and who have positioned themselves to be ready for God's direction. We understand that loving people is more than throwing money or words at a problem—it's something we want to do with all that we are. We are the family of God—warm and welcoming no matter who you are!—and we are on a mission! We want to be all about grace—showing it, living it, letting it empower us to show compassion with all kinds of people and to be God's hands and feet carrying Good News to a broken world.

As if having a great church isn't enough, I have a wonderful family. My wife, Cynthia, is incredibly talented, beautiful, smart and funny—of course I'm not biased! We have three terrific kiddos—Morgan (29, teaching Latin American History and Gender Studies at University of North Carolina at Charlotte), Jordan (24, working in logistics and supply here in SLC), and Caleb (19, working and going to school in Milwaukee). I believe my most important ministry is to my family.

So that's some of my story. I'd love to hear some of yours!
